Vanderhall is een Amerikaanse autoproducent van unieke drie-wielige motorvoertuigen.
Ze onderscheiden zich van bijvoorbeeld een Polaris Slingshot, de Morgan Tricycle en de Canam Spyder wat ook driewielige motorvoertuigen zijn door zijn unieke concept en voorwielaandrijving. De andere genoemde 3 zijn achterwiel aangedreven wat inhoudt dat het ene smalle bandje achter voor alle grip van aandrijving maar vooral ook in de bochten de auto goed bestuurbaar moet houden. Mijn ervaring is dat dat bij die drie niet altijd een pretje is met gevolgen van dien.
De Complete aandrijflijn van de Vanderhall Venice is afkomstig van de General Motors fabriek in de USA en wordt in meerdere Amerikaanse merken al jarenlang succesvol gebruikt.
Het gaat om een 1500cc 4-cylinder in lijn motor met een turbo voor maximale prestaties en veel koppel. Hij levert dan ook 185 PK (136Kw) en doordat hij is uitgerust met Traction Control krijg je dat vermogen, ook in deze lichte auto (<700Kg) goed en betrouwbaar op de weg.
Wat ook zeker helpt is de 6-versnellingsautomaat die je desgewenst ook met de hand kan bedienen via de stuurbediening.
Het ruggengraat chassis is volledig van dik Aluminium en is supersterk.
De composiet bodypanelen (in dit geval professioneel gewrapt met zwarte Carbon folie, staat erg stoer) met de ‘boattail’ achterkant laten het slanke silhouet mooi uitkomen en de ongelofelijk brede (285mm) achterband en de verzonken lichtunits achter laten hem er extra duister uitzien!
De voorkant is al even inventief, hij heeft qua neus wel iets weg van klassieke Lotus en Donkervoort modellen, maar ook hier is alles anders dan bij een normale auto.
Doordat hij als ‘trike’ bij de RDW is geclassificeerd hoeft hij aan heel beperkte regelgeving te voldoen wat geresulteerd heeft in koplampen en knipperlichten (alles in LED) die verzonken achter de zwarte aluminium grille verschuild liggen wat hem een sinistere aanblik geeft.
Hij staat op Vanderhall’s eigen lichtmetalen wielen met zgan banden.
Ook aan comfort is gedacht, de vorige eigenaar heeft geopteerd voor een langere polycarbonaat voorruit zodat je (nog) meer uit de wind zit, hij heeft een goede kachel, verwarmde stoelen, in hoogte en diepte verstelbaar sportstuur met schakelknoppen, heeft Cruise Control voor lekker ontspannen rijden en naar muziek luisteren doe je via de ingebouwde bluetooth met goede speakers en extra versterker die je koppelt aan je GSM.
Het bruine interieur is van een leerachtig materiaal wat goed schoon te houden en en is in deze Venice in erg goede staat met nauwelijks slijtage.
Hij heeft ook maar 18000 km gereden in zijn 4-jarig bestaan.
